Provider availability utility

OpenSign

Editorial № 05 · Concept v0.1

OpenSign.

The doctor is in. The dentist has openings before noon. The walk-in clinic is too busy to bother. Stop calling fifteen offices. Look at the sign.

OpenSign is a utility where healthcare providers flip three availability switches and patients see those switches without calling. No booking, no records, no marketplace. Just the sign in the window.

Switch 01

Accepting new patients

Yes or no. The single most-called question.

Switch 02

Same-day openings

Yes with a cutoff time. Flips itself when time passes.

Switch 03

Walk-in status

Green, amber, or closed for drop-in clinics.

§ Bright lines

What OpenSign refuses to do.

  • No paid placement or sponsored listings — status determines rank.
  • No healthcare advertising, no patient health data, no booking engine.
  • No ratings, no reviews, no third-party trackers.
  • Stale status dims the listing. Free for providers, forever.
